The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba, has confirmed the ongoing investigation into the sudden death of a lecturer from the Department of Social Science Education, Mr. Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle.
Mr. Ibikunle reportedly passed away last Thursday while in the company of a female student, identified as Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel, a student in the same department.
The university described the incident as both “tragic and disturbing,” acknowledging the public attention it has drawn. In an official statement issued by the institution’s Registrar, Yahaya Alilu, the management expressed deep sorrow over the loss and called for calm and patience as the investigation continues.
The university also addressed circulating rumors linking another student, Miss Bello Yahaya Lubabat of the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, to the incident. The institution strongly denied any such connection, urging the public to avoid spreading unverified and potentially damaging information.
“We appeal to the public and media to avoid speculation or premature conclusions until all facts are verified by the appropriate authorities,” the statement read.
Prince Abubakar Audu University reaffirmed its commitment to truth, fairness, and justice and urged for responsible reporting as official findings are awaited.
