Some residence of Woji Community, in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, have raised alarm over what they described as” persistent extortion” by Woji DPO, CSP Ibekwe Peace.
Speaking to our crime reporter recently at Woji Community, a resident at Woji Community who sued for anonymity, expressed greatest surprise that Woji police station has suddenly turned to a supermarket where cases or complaints are tagged with different prices by the DPO of Woji Divisional headquarters, CSP Ibekwe Peace.
The victim and complaint ( Name withheld) said, ” I want to use this medium to call on the appropriate police headquarters to carefully look into, and investigate the blatant abuse of police office by CSP Ibekwe Peace, DPO of Woji Divisional headquarters, where prices are tagged in each of the offence, and or complain by innocent citizens who comes into the station to lodge their complaints.”.
He said, ” for clarity, I advise that CSP Peace Ibekwe’s personal account with United Bank of Africa ( UBA) be thoroughly investigated to ascertain what lam saying “, the victim summed up, posting that if the account is investigated, the police authority would be surprised and shocked with the huge amount of money in the account of a serving police officer.
According to the victim, in that division, Woji Divisional Police headquarters, the DPO, CSP Ibekwe Peace, allegedly has POS operator, who is a Nurse, that is always on standby to carryout her transaction with the suspected complainants and victims who come to the station.
Am impeccable source told our crime reporter that CSP Ibekwe Peace, the DPO, also runs an opay account where her victims pays in money on a regular basis.
Our source further alleged that the DPO, CSP Peace Ibekwe, also has an Elder brother who sometimes serves as her driver, who she also uses to extort money from complainants and her victims.
He went further to allege that the most annoying part part is that CSP Peace Ibekwe does things with impunity, allegedly boasting that nothing will happen, and that she is ” untouchable, non transferable, even as she claimed that the C. P Olugbenga Adepoju, cannot do her anything, because, she sees herself to be in good books of the CP.
We authoritatively and reliably gathered that another residence in Woji Community, who was a victim of CSP Peace Ibekwe DPO Woji police headquarters, said that,” let me also bring to the public notice that, the DPO’s daily quests for money has recently caused the unfortunate transfer of a police officer from her division by the police headquarters, simply because, the police officer was always opposed to CSP Peace Ibekwe’s continues extortion of money from complainants who came to complain their matter.
It was learnt that, sometime in the month of June, 2025, CSP Peace Ibekwe, DPO Woji police headquarters, in her usual manners of putting money first over everything charged and collected money from a serving PCRC member from her division before accepting to investigate or handle a matter that was brought before her.
On hearing that the PCRC member was asked to pay money by CSP Peace Ibekwe, before handling his matter, the PCRC members frowned at it and immediately asked CSP Ibekwe Peace, DPO Woji police headquarters to return the money to their member.
A source in Woji Community alleged that CSP Ibekwe Peace was a trader before she was enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force, adding that she is now hiding under the police office to continue her trading in an unusual manner.
The victim further narrated and regretted that apart from CSP Peace Ibekwe’s quest for Money, she allegedly indulges in the practice of bringing prophets and prophetess into the police station on weekly basis, saying that this said prophets and prophetess usually starts their ritual and incantation from her office and then round the station, allegedly pouring some unknown substances, adding that sometimes they take sand from the front of the station for their rituals.
The victim who was an eye witness disclosed that on the 3rd day of July, 2025, ” I saw seven ( 7) prophets making enchantments and sprinkling substances round the station, I was at the station to lodge a complaint about a certain incident, sincerely I couldn’t enter the station again on citing that unusual scenario”, adding that upon inquiry on what was going on at the station, I was told that those are Ndi-amuma for DPO “.
A dependable source said that CSP Peace Ibekwe has served two years as DPO of Woji police Divisional headquarters, even at that, one can hardly notice the presence of police personnel in her jurisdiction during the day or night hours.
The source further alleged that CSP Peace Ibekwe is unprofessional, crafty, fraudulent, and has not represented the Nigerian Police well, adding that she has lost control of police core ethics.
Meanwhile in a random interviews with some residence of Woji Community, who do not want their names to be mentioned used the medium to call on the inspector -General of police ( IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Commissioner of police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju to carefully investigate the monetary transactions and general conduct of CSP Peace Ibekwe, the DPO Woji Divisional Police headquarters, before she tarnishes the Reputation of Nigerian police, even as they also demand for her immediate transfer from Woji Community.
In a telephone chat with our reporter on the 13th day of July, 2025,( Sunday Evening) Woji DPO, CSP Peace Ibekwe denied all the allegations leveled against her, saying that she does not interfere.
She said, ” when you come, make your complain to the counter and they transfer it”.
” I want Woji to be crime free, if Woji is calm, I will be ok, either I transfer the matter to court or State CID”.
“It is a cooked story, did CP know me?, why all these things, for what”, she said.
My office is open to everybody, your people knows me very well, they have given me awards severally, not one, not two, not three as outstanding DPO “, she declares.
” I am a straight forward somebody, ask your people about me. Am I a bad person your people are giving me awards?.
” Come and ask one or two persons about me, they have given me so many awards, ask your people about me, DPO Woji”, she said.
“Come and confirm weather am a bad person or not”, CSP Ibekwe Peace summed up.
