PROF. ITOTENAAN HENRY OGIRI
The National population Commissioner, representing Rivers State in the Commission, Prof. Itotenaan Henry Ogiri, has vehemently denied the news making the rounds in the social media and other media platforms that he was responsible and mastermind of the sudden disappearance of former Head of service, Rivers State, Dr George Nwaeke to untraceable destination.
Wife of the Former Head of service to Rivers State government, Mrs Florence Nweke had released a video clip, alleging that Prof. Henry Ogiri is the architect and mastermind of the missing of her husband for days now.
Speaking to journalists in reaction to the allegation, Prof. Henry Ogiri denied having any knowledge of the whereabout of Dr George Nwaeke, former Head of service, Rivers State , as alleged by his wife, Mrs Florence Nweke.
While acknowledging that Dr. George Nwaeke is his personal friend and a professional colleague, Prof. Ogiri said that both of them had only spoken once since he , Prof. Ogiri, left the Rivers State cabinet in November, 2023,
Ogiri said., ” I came to port Harcourt from Abuja on the 28th of February, 2025, the date the supreme court gave judgement on Rivers State, and haven’t travelled out of Rivers State till date. I have been working at our Port Harcourt office while also preparing for the burial of my foster father, which took place last Saturday, 22nd of march, 2025, Ogiri stated. ”
” I haven’t spoken with Dr. George Nwaeke since the supreme court judgement. And if this allegation was from Dr. George Nwaeke himself, then I would have viewed this from a different different perspective, ” Prof. Ogiri summed up.
His words, ” Of note is the fact that the woman in the viral video was accusing me of putting a call from Abuja across to her husband and had asked that the husband come over to Abuja so they can discuss some certain matters. She even alleged that I offered to pay for the flight ticket of the husband. ” Who is supposed to pay for whose ticket, Ogiri queried.
Prof. Ogiri used the opportunity to urgent his relatives, friends, supporters, associates, political leaders and the general public to be rest assured that the truth shall be unveiled in no distant time.
