PROF. ISAAC ZEB- OBIPI RSU VC
Members of the Rivers State University Alumni Association are joyful at the appointment of Prof.Isaac Zeb-Obipi as the new Vice Chancellor of the nation’s premier University of Technology and are very optimistic that he(VC) would impact hugely on the institution,given his wealth of experience in university administration and academic exposure.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Association by its Worldwide President,Se-Alabo Dr.Anyanate E.Kio,the members expressed hearty congratulations to Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi on ” this well-deserved appointment as the Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University”.
The 10th National President of RSU Alumni Association described the appointment as ” a historic event for the entire university community”.
Continuing, Se-Alabo Dr.Anyanate Kio remarked that “the appointment is truly a victory for merit, integrity, and academic excellence. For the first time in the history of Rivers State University, a leader who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the welfare and advancement of the Alumni Association has been entrusted with the highest assignment in the university,having served earlier in various capacities at Nigeria’s Premier University of Science and Technology.
Prof. Zeb-Obipi’s emergence as Vice Chancellor,he added,breaks the barriers of ethnic bias, favouritism, and nepotism, affirming the principle that excellence and dedication remain the surest paths to leadership. He is indeed a round peg in a round hole—a man whose capabilities, intellect, and vision are in perfect alignment with the demands of this great office.
Dr.Kio,who is also the Leader of the National Representative Council (NRC) of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) enthused that “I have personally witnessed his brilliance, creativity and deep passion for academic and institutional growth during his professorial seminars and leadership engagements. His contributions to the university, spanning various strategic roles, have been exemplary.”
Until Zeb-Obipi’s new appointment, he had served with distinction as the Director of the Centre for Technical and Continuing Education (CTC), having previously held the critical role of Dean of Student Affairs, alongside many other leadership positions within the university.
Beyond the academic sphere, Prof. Zeb-Obipi is also a respected traditional ruler, an embodiment of wisdom, cultural heritage,with a strong sense of responsibility to his people. His ability to seamlessly blend scholarship with leadership is a testament to his exceptional qualities as an administrator and visionary.
The Rivers State University Alumni Association,therefore, believes that as Prof.Zeb-Obipi,a distinguished scholar and Leader,steps into this esteemed office, his tenure would usher in a new era of academic excellence, infrastructural development, and student-centered leadership. “We stand firmly behind him, offering our full support as he takes Rivers State University to greater heights.
