EFCC STORMS OBASANJO LIBRARY HOTEL, ARRESTS SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS AT POOL PARTY

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly carried out a raid at the Green Legacy Hotel, situated within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) complex in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several suspected internet fraudsters.

According to eyewitness accounts, the operation took place in the early hours of Sunday during a pool party at the hotel. A viral video from the scene showed partygoers fleeing in panic as gunshots rang out, while EFCC operatives reportedly seized over 20 luxury cars and other valuables.

The raid comes less than a week after EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 56 suspects, including one found in possession of two locally-made pistols, during an operation at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

A social media user, identified as A. Ayomide, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he narrowly missed the raid after leaving the venue minutes before EFCC’s arrival.

The Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed that an incident occurred but said further details would be provided later. EFCC spokespersons, Dele Oyewale and Ayo Oyewole, also stated that they would verify the incident and give updates.
