COMRADE FRANKLIN AJINWO WITH SERVICE COMMANDERS
Stakeholders in Emohua Local Government Area (EMOLGA) have been assured that the present administration of the council would do whatever it takes within the ambit of the law and other statutes to protect lives, property and national assets in the area.
Comrade Barr.Franklin P.Ajinwo, Administrator of the LGA, gave this assurance at the interactive meeting held in the council between the representatives of the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) and the people (Paramount Rulers, Chiefs,Youth Groups, Religious Organizations,, Communities,,Women,CSOs etc)
Barr.Ajinwo noted that any threat to peace in any Community would unsettle the council because it would have to deploy men and materials to contain such development and thus crush any eventual crisis,a situation that can possibly be time-consuming in the presence of scarce resources.
The EMOLGA Administrator, therefore, warned chiefs, opinion leaders and youth bodies to always deal with issues as they deserve and not be political or biased, situations that can deteriorate and lead to a breakdown of law and order.
Speaking on the purpose of the meeting, the Commissioner of Police,Rivers State,Mr.Olugbenga Adepoju said “we(service chiefs in the state)are here on the directives of the State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas ( rtd) to interact and hear firsthand from you issues that are bordering you,be they social,on security, welfare, health, education etc and make recommendations on what can be done, especially the ones that can be fixed in the shortest possible time”.
On behalf of the Sole Administrator of the State,CP Adepoju said more attention would be given to quick fixes all over the state and that more of such interactions would be held from time to time so as to feel the actual pulse and development needs of the people of the state.
There were various contributions and petitions from traditional rulers, chiefs, opinion leaders and youths from communities like Obele/Ibas,Rumuekpe,Ogbakiri,Ndele,Elele-Alimini etc concerning the poor conducive of several health centres, schools, roads, markets and electricity.
One of the complains came from Rumuekpe. The youths and chiefs complained that Shell Petroleum Development Company(now Renaissance Oil),Total Energy and NDPR had refused to site any development project in their community nor employ any indigene after several decades of operation in their community, noting the people might resort to self-help anytime soon.
In a related development, the Administrator if Emohua Local Government Area,Comrade Barr.Franklin Ajinwo has advised Eze Hon Azunda Nkomadu and Chief Uchenna Ukenwo to work together with the chiefs and owhor-holders of Rumuewhor to engender peace in the community or have peace foisted on them by government “because we cannot fold our hands and watch anybody,no matter how highly-placed, disturb the peace in any part of this LGA”.
The Administrator handed this advice at a Security Committee meeting he convened on Friday,May 2nd,2025 to identify reasons for desertion of Rumuewhor Community by some persons, while it was also said that so many other illegalities were going on unchecked in the same community.
Several hanging questions rested with the Rumuewhor Security outfit called OSPAC and so the Council Administrator directed that the members should be re-profiled in order to dismiss any bad egg among them, stressing that “OSPAC cannot work alone. They must take instructions from the leadership of the community”.
