BUGUMA CITY AGAG AS BARR.DONALD TAKES HIGHEST CHIEFTAINCY TITLE……. ASSURES QUALITY LEADERSHIP

The Ancient city of Buguma in Kalabari Kingdom, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State was on the March 29, 2025 agog as a prominent son of the land, Chief, (Barr.) Donald Albert Horsfall is installed the highest level chieftaincy title, Se-alabo in Kalabari Kingdom at the King Amachree Memorial Hall Buguma. By the installation, he is a member of not less than 33, 0000 chiefs in Kalabari Kingdom.

The ceremony which started 10: am with boat regatta and enactment of warrior chief going to battle, “Omu – aru” snowballed to the ceremonial chief regal gig which witnessed sophisticated and fantastic display of rich cultural heritage and chieftaincy rites the people.

The ambiance of the clement atmosphere and birds flocking around, aroused joy and something spectacularly unique about the coronation. The occasion saw the gathering of timbre and calibres who came from different walks of life to grace the occasion.

Speaking to a group of journalists shortly after his coronation by the Regent in Council of the Ancient Kalabari Kingdom led by Dr. Charles Nunbere, assisted by the Chiefs of the Council, the celebrant, Chief Barr. Donald Albert Horsfall noted that a dancer does not see his back, but stated that his people have found him worthy for the elevated chieftaincy title, because of his love for them, his love for their culture and his efforts in alleviating the suffering of the poor and the less privilege in the society.

He opined that he has no choice than to render quality leadership representation and service to his people.

“I will render quality leadership with open heart to receive them, to do what I can do to come to their needs, and as well institute empowerment programmes for their benefit”, he said and urged them to be peaceful.

According to him, EMI in my Kalabari language means, “is here”, but I take it as as an acronym to mean Education, Morality and Investment, adding that these three things are what he would inject into Kalabari Kingdom.

He urged them not to rely on anybody to help them, but rather believe in themselves, “do it yourself”, stressing that hope cast on human being other than God is tantamount to failure.

Dr. Soibi Clark, the elder sister to the celebrant expressed delight over her brother’ chieftaincy elevation to the level of Se-alabo. She advised him to be God fearing, humble and acknowledge that he has a higher responsibilities, to administer quality leadership to his people.

Succinctly, Chief Barr. Donald Albert Horsfall by 22 years had earned two Masters degrees, one in Business Law from the University of Leeds and the other, Masters in Business Administration at the American International University, London. He later obtained his professional qualifications from the Nigerian Law schools in Abuja and Lagos respectively.

Apart from his intimidating work experience, Barr. Horsfall also has chains of businesses locally and internationally, including but not limited to; D.A.H. Holdings, D.A.H. Transport, D.A.H Communication, Horsfall Donald Albert and Partners, D.A.H. Oil and Gas, Abrahamic Farms among others. As a passionate and practicing christian, Chief Donald is married to Mrs. Dipa Donald Horsfall and are blessed with 3 children.

Despite being partisan which enabled him contested for an election into the seat of Federal House of Representatives in 2019, he is also a noted singer, an avid swimmer and cyclist to the glory of God.

Highlight of the occasion was the different cultural rendition exhibited to pleasure guests.
