SE- ALABO BARR BOMA IYAYE, EDFA AND THE TEAM EDFA(FEMALES)
It was a time for sporting glitz and glamour at the Football Section of Port Harcourt Club 1928 on Tuesday, April 8,2025 as the eight-days 2025 NDDC MD/CEO Football Competition for Staff of the Commission came to an end,with the Managing Director,Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD expressing satisfaction with the level of participation and zeal shown by staffers and their supporters in the course of the event.
Speaking as the Special Guest at the award presentation/ closing ceremony,the helmsman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC),Chief Samuel Ogbuku noted the role played by friendship and fitness in the delivery of the mandate of the Commission to the people of the Niger Delta,saying “the task given to us is a huge one and only physically fit, mentally stable people as staff, among whom is friendship,can effectively deliver on the assignment”.
He acknowledged the fact that “staff from Abuja, Ondo,Edo and Cross River states have taken time off their very tight work schedules to come to Port Harcourt,at a challenging time like this and play football joyfully,making more friendship among themselves and creating networks that will ultimately benefit NDDC well I’m the long run.Thank you very much.I saw that you were all enthusiastic I have…, despite the fact that some of you copped some avoidable injuries.All will be treated appropriately.You will also be duly rewarded for your labour on the field of play”.
Earlier,the Executive Director,Finance & Administration (EDFA) of the Commission,Se-Alabo Barr.Boma Iyaye,expressed goodwill to all participants and their supporters,, particularly to Team EDFA (Females) for emerging 1st Runner-up behind Team AkwaCross(Females) and challenged the team to go for the gong in the next edition,promising to appreciate them with a handsome reward.
On her part,Grace Ekang,a member of Team EDFA (Females), said playing football “at this age is stressful but interesting”.
Also commenting on the competition, Ambassador Joseph Cole,a member of Team EDFA (Males) enthused that his team could have won the male gong if not for their massive involvement in the maiden Niger Delta Sports Festival that ran side by side with the NDDC MD/CEO Football Competition.
On their part,Bro Doye Robinson and Comrade Emeka Odo, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), expressed gratitude to the Management of NDDC for bestowing confidence in them to execute the assignment and to all the teams,viz DELRIV ..Ondo/Edo..AbiaAbuja….EDCS…FINPCON…Team ByImo..Team Chairman…Team MD…Team EDFA and all officials that helped the LOC to ensure a highly successful competition.
