The tragic death of Inspector Ajele Oloyede at a ceramics company in Igbesa, Ogun State, has sparked outrage and suspicion, with multiple officers alleging a deliberate cover-up by the Nigerian Police Force.
Inspector Oloyede was fatally shot last Thursday, allegedly by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tolorunloju Stephen—but what should have been a straightforward case of an officer killed by a colleague has turned into a web of conflicting reports, shifting narratives, and allegations of high-level corruption.

However, in an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola admitted that the suicide claim was not based on conclusive findings but rather a preliminary report given by one person—ASP Stephen, the alleged shooter.
“The suicide report was from the first responder, but now, a full forensic investigation is underway. We are conducting an autopsy, gathering forensic evidence, and reviewing witness accounts,” she stated.
