AKPABIO’S WIFE DISMISSES SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HUSBAND AS BASELESS

Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, has firmly denied Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment against her husband. She dismissed the claims as “baseless fantasies” and pointed out the previously amicable relationship between their families. Mrs. Akpabio also stated that on December 8, 2023—the date of the alleged incident—she was at their family residence, raising doubts about the accusation. She further defended her husband’s commitment to women’s inclusion in governance and his professional integrity, warning against false allegations and indicating plans for legal action.

Meanwhile, Senator Ireti Kingibe weighed in on the controversy, suggesting that Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio had a personal relationship before their time in the Senate, a dynamic that did not apply to other female senators. Kingibe stressed the importance of following Senate rules and procedures, irrespective of personal histories.

These events unfold in the wake of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claim that she faced political obstacles after allegedly rejecting Akpabio’s advances, which, she asserts, led to her motions being ignored in the Senate.
