A popular Nigerian and African celebrated Artiste, High Chief Dr Muma Gee, has raised alarm over what she described as violations of her fundamental human right and threat to her Life by the Nigerian Police.
Muma Gee disclosed this while speaking to our correspondent in Port Harcourt.
According to her, some police officers of counter terrorism unit ( CTU) of the Nigerian Police based in Rumuokoro axis of port Harcourt, Rivers state, rushed violently into her vehicle as she tried to drop off her relatives at the Rumuokoro junction, off the East – West Road who returned with her from Odiabidi village, in Ahoada East local government area, after her brother’s funeral.
According to Muma Gee, on trying to park on the side of the road, some police officers jumped down from their Van and started hitting on her car to wind down the glass.
On trying to wind down the glass, two police officers jumped into the car and started ransacking the vehicle, while others cocked their guns to shoot if she tries to move an inch.
” As I speak, to you now, my car is tragically damaged as a result of the force and constant hitting on the car with their guns, trying to force me to open the car”
I want to use this medium to call on the Inspector – General of Police and the other constituted authorities to caution and or call the Nigerian Police to order on the manner they carry out their duties.
Muma Gee alleged high level of rascality, irresponsible and extortion by the Nigerian Police.
She wondered the kind of society we operate on where the Nigerian Police officers can’t exhibit discipline and some level of responsibility, even as she opined that if the excesses of the Nigerian Police are not checkmated, then the lives and properties of the citizenry would always be in jeopardy, Muma Gee summed up.
