The Rivers State government has launched a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul at Port Harcourt International Airport to transform it into a modern aviation hub.
The ambitious upgrade will include a complete remodelling of car parks, the creation of a new drop-off zone, and an expansion of access roads—all aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the travel experience for passengers.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has personally overseen the project’s launch, with assurances that the work will be completed on time, minimizing disruption to airport operations while delivering a fresh, attractive environment for travelers.

Expansion and Rehabilitation of Access Roads: The roads leading to the airport will be expanded and internal roads, particularly those in front of the domestic terminal, will undergo urgent rehabilitation to improve traffic flow and safety.
Dedicated Drop-off Zone at Domestic Terminal: A new drop-off zone is being constructed to streamline passenger arrivals and provide a smoother, more convenient experience.
Enhanced Car Parks: Major remodelling of day and overnight car parks is nearing completion to accommodate the growing number of travelers.
Comprehensive Roadwork: Extensive milling and road construction near the toll gate area are underway to improve accessibility and create a seamless travel experience.
