MADAM AYEBADIEYE DORCAS
Nembe City in Bayelsa state was agog with eminent personalities from all walks of life, especially from Delta state, Rivers state and Bayelsa state to pay the last respect to the mother of Dr Ayebaesin Jacob Beredugo, late, Madam Ayebadieye Dorcas Edward Igbeta, as she was laid to rest on thursday february 6,2025 in Nember city of Bayelsa state.
Madam Ayebadieye Dorcas Edward Igbeta who was 79 years old has been described by some members of Nembe Community as a woman of integrity, sincere , jovial ,adviser, counsellor and a dedicated, committed member of the St. Lukes cathedral, Nembe, Bayelsa state.
Speaking to our reporter at St. Luke’s Cathedral ,Nembe,Bayelsa state, at the funeral service in honor of Madam Ayebadieye Dorcas Edward Igbeta , Mrs Aama Ovoh described Madam Dorcas Edward as a woman with the fear of God, pointing out that until her death, Madam Dorcas was a devout Christian who devoted her time to serve God.
Mrs Aama maintained that apart from her dedication to the service of God, she was also a cheerful giver and mentor to several women at St. Luke’s Cathedral,Nembe , in Bayelsa state.
She prayed God to accept her soul in Heaven,even as she also prayed God to comfort the bereaved family, especially, her son, Dr. Ayebaesin Jacob Beredugo.
However, the funeral service which took place at the St .Luke’s Cathedral , Nembe ,Bayelsa state, had in attendance Bishops and Rev. Fathers and highly respected men of God who officiated the funeral service in honour of Madam Ayebadieye Dorcas Edward Igbeta.
Earlier, in his speech at the church funeral service, the Governor of Rivers state, Sir, Siminalayi Fubara, said that Rivers state government, and the people of Rivers state, were in Nembe,Bayelsa state, to condole and support a brother to Rivers state, Dr, Ayebaesin Jacob Beredugo who, according to Governor Fubara, have supported the Government of Rivers State.
While describing Dr Beredugo as a key stakeholder and principal officer to the Governor.
He said,” we are here as a government to show support and encouragement to our brother,there is no consolation that can fill the gap,”Governor Fubara stated.
Governor Fubara quoted the scripture that says, ” it is the Lord that givet and it is the Lord that taket”, adding that He takes for reason.
Governor Sim added that it pleases God Almighty to take away a saint so that he might not be corrupted.
His words,” it pleases God Almighty to take you,so that you will not be corrupted, he takes away the soul to a better place where there will be no more suffering , where you don’t need to kook for food again, so we strongly believe that with the good profile we read about Mama, there is no doubt that she is no good side in Heaven,” Governor declares.
Governor Sim said he would not end his speech without supporting St. Luke’s Cathedral , Nembe, and thus on behalf of Rivers state government and the people of Rivers state, Governor Sim made a donation of Fifty Million Naira,( 50 million Naira) for the completion of the St. Luke’s Cathedral ,Nembe, Bayelsa state .
Meanwhile , Dr. Jacob Beredugo had expressed gratitude to all and sundry who came from far and near to give his late mother, Madam Ayebadieye Dorcas Edward Igbeta the last respect, especially, the government and the people of Rivers state, led by the State Governor, his principal, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, some Rivers state commissioners, Local Government Chairmen ,Speaker,Rivers State House of Assembly,Rt Hon. Oko Jumbo, Former Rivers State Deputy Governor. Engr. Tele Ikuru and some critical stakeholders in Rivers state. He thanked God especially for the life of his and thus wished all safe journey to their respective states and homes.
