The newly elected President- General of Ogbakor Etche social – cultural organization,world- wide, Dr. Silas Anyanwu has promised that he would partner with the relevant stakeholders to attract meaningful developments into Etche ethnic nationality.
Dr. Anyanwu stated this shortly after he emerged as president- General of Ogbakor Etche socio- cultural organization ,following his election on December 26, 2024, at Obiri Ukwu Etche, along Okehi- Omuma road, in Etche local government area of Rivers state.
Barr. Anyanwu who works with the Niger Delta Development Commission( NDDC) said that his leadership is a continum and as a result would take his time with his exco to x- ray the extent of progress of his predecessor and improve on that.
According to Barr Anyanwu, Etche ethnic nationality was integral in the overall development of Rivers state as the food basket of the state ,stressing that he would do everything within his powers to galvanize both human and material resources for the overall development of the people.
The brand new president – General of Ogbakor – Etche assured the people not to worry as his administration would offer better leadership aimed at strengthening cordial relationship between the two sister LGAs,Etche and Omuma.
His words,” my advice is let Etche people just go home and relax,we are going to give them the best leadership”, he said, adding that he would run an inclusive government.
Dr Anyanwu also expressed satisfaction over the level of developmental progression of Etche , thanked his predecessor, Sir Charles Nwonuala for the ways and manners he pioneered the body.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon . Dr. Uzodinma Nwafor expressed delight over the people’s turnout for the convention, positing that Etche people would in six months of his administration witness dividends of democracy. He mentioned various developmental projects ,particularly ,in road rehabilitation, grading ,electrification of Etche which are at different stages of completion , pointing out that phase 5 and 6 of the electrification would continue until all parts of the L GA are attended to
Dr Nwafor used the opportunity to warn Etche People, particularly ,the chiefs of Igbo clan, against land grabbing, charged them to desist forthwith as the government of Etche LGA would do everything to confront and subdue the monster.
He also warned those chiefs aiding and abetting land grabbing in Igbo clan to desist or they would face the wrath of the law, positing that his prompt interventionat Abara/ Etche where a woman was killed by land grabbers, houses would have been burnt down ,including a foreign school, the youths on mission located there.
The Etche boss assured that he would set up a peace and conflict reconciliation committee to tackle the issues headlong.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the convention , Prof. Clifford Nwayanwu thanked Governor Sim Fubara for the numerous projects he has executed Etche,which include the completion and commissioning of Okehi-Umuola- Eberi Omuma raod, Umuakali- Umueze- Eberi road, and award and commencement of work on Igbo Rumukurushi Eleme junction raod, Egwi- Africa- Mba raod among others.
He Observed that one of the challenges was the inability of Ogbakor Etche to document their activities in a very structured forms for research and historic reference,stressing that it was based on the premise that the group commissioned an intellectual team who came up with literary work to avoid losing their history to time.
Rev. Father Ukulor said that one of the remarkable thing about the year’s convention was the launching of the compendium of socio- cultural and political development of Etche,which is the collection of history and political development of the people.
