EKITI AIRPORT 99.5 % READY…..FESTUS KAYAMO

The Ekiti state Agro-Allied International Cargo airport located in Ado- Ekiti , which was inaugurated on October 15, 2022, is ready for non-scheduled flight operations.

As of January 21, 2025, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced that the airport is 99.5% complete and ready for full commercial operations. He highlighted that the airport is equipped with essential facilities, including a fire station, control tower, navigational equipment, and a runway built to international standards. The apron is also spacious enough to accommodate multiple narrow-body aircraft, such as the Boeing 737.

In December 2024, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) granted the airport a six-month license to handle non-scheduled flight operations, effective from December 15, 2024, to June 15, 2025. This period allows the airport to test its systems and prepare for full commercial operations anticipated to commence on June 15, 2025.

Therefore, while the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport is operational for non-scheduled flights, full commercial flight operations are expected to begin in mid-2025.
